I have $200 right now and i was wondering what to buy? either the ipod touch 1st or 2nd edition….can you tell me the differences..and i heard the ipod touch 1st edition has Wi-Fi but can i watch youtube vids? and how about GPS? and lots of other things give me some reasons why i should be either one.

the main difference, though, is that there is an
external speaker on the 2nd generation ipod touch.
there is also a volume rocker on the side of the ipod
so that you don’t have to fully take out your ipod
and change the volume.
um.. also, on the calender on the 2nd generation ipod touch
it has the application store and 2.0.1 firmware which is the newest.
if you get the 1st generation ipod, you have to pay $10 for the update.
the 2nd generation ipod touch has one extra icon, and it’s the app store, lol. but if you go on the app store, you can download lots of
other free applications like games and such for it.
i would go ahead and buy the 2nd generation ipod,
it’s what they sell in stores and on the apple online store, anyway.
and it has all the same things as 1st generation,
plus an external speaker for casual listening,
and the new 2.0.1 firmware.
The second genereation iPod touch has everthing the original has, only it is better. You cant buy the old version because they stopped selling it. Yes you can watch youtube, no to GPS (no ipod touch has ever had GPS. If you want that you have to get the iPhone), and Yes to Wi-fi. The new iPod touch is amazing. It has this thing called the app store where you can download applications that can do ANYTHING! You can get games, tools, even yahoo answers using that.
Here are the new things about the iPod touch 2nd edition

-Volume rocker
-Slim, sleek new design
Wow that’s a good question! Here are the new things in the 2nd generation:1. Built in speakers 2. Volume button on the side 3. It’s shaped differently 4. It has the Nike+iPod technology 5. It has the App Store. The similarities are that they still have the same applications besides the new App Store. They’re still touch screen (duh!) Oh! And the new iPod can play games, the first edition can too but you have to jailbreak it and that’ a whole different story. But you’re better off with the new one, i bought mine for $300 and the new one cost like $30 less.
2nd gen is way better it has a speaker and a volume rocker basically if you get the same firmware same icons on both but know you can download more apps for the 2nd gen that aren’t compatible for the first

apple just needs to release the same basic thing but make it seem “cooler” so that you will buy it after you watch their “cool” commercials.

there are alot of differences. have you ever heard of cydia and installer, if u havnt, look it up on youtube. the 2nd generation is a wash. yes they put in speakers, but seriously guys, were buying an ipod..not a freakin sterio. and it has a very dumb new design. well lets go back to cydia and installer..they let u customize the look and feel of ur ipod. well, apple got word of this (BECAUSE THERE IS THIS THING CALLED “APPSHARE” ON CYDIA THAT LETS YOU GET EVERY APP IN THE APP STORE FOR FREE!) and they decided that there new ipod would have NO customizable software. thats right, the second generation can not hold cydia and installer…sad. both 1st and 2nd gen have wi-fi and youtube..only iphone has GPS tho. and i dnt know what these people above me are saying…u can order a 1st gen ipod touch. obviously didnt do there reaserch…and really, ive held a ipod touch 2nd gen, and it just feels wierd…oh ya, and the new ipod touch 2nd doesnt have the invinsible screen. which means that the 1st gen has a sreen that cannot be scratched, but in the lowering of price for 2nd gen, they took the invincible screen out..cheapos…well i hope i helped..if u have any questions just email me. oh ya, the dumbies that answered the question above me obviously dont have ipod touches…becauz u can get the app store for first generation too…just requires a software update (which u can hack, just search on youtube) and there is a new l8r version called 2.1.1 which neither the 1st NOR 2nd generation come standard with..
