There is no difference except texting and calling. A program has not been made to jailbreak 2nd gen yet.

The iPhone has a camera and text messaging. Yes you can jailbreak the 2nd gen. iPod but so can the iPhone. The iPhone has more value in return. There is no possible way you can get a camera on an iPod touch.
the iphone is a cell phone, which works anywhere there is cell service. the Itouch’s VoIP only works when it is connecterd to a wi-fi hotspot, so unless your planning to make all your calls from home or Starbucks, the Iphone is a better choice

You can “semi-jailbreak” an iPod Touch 2G.

the iphone is a phone.. it has texting, calling etc.. it also has a camera, which is something the ipod touch does not have.. the itouch lets you go on the internet and myspace and aim like the iphone does too.. the only major differences are the camera, the texting, and the calling.
The ipod touch is what i have and they are GREAT!!! the iphone is to expensive but has added features like camera and gps. i use my ipod touch on fring with skypeout credit there is quite a bit of lag but it works for me.

What the difference is? The 2Gen ipod touch has a volume toggle on the side. It is a little thinner, and it runs a lot faster.It’s also offers a much bigger headache when you attempt to jailbreak it. The 2Gen, being newer, is worth more.
There is no iTouch that can be used as a phone, at least, no one has found a way for it to work yet.

well..u cant use the ipod touch to phone people when there isn’t any wifi connection. iphone is exactly like the ipod touch 2G except it has an extra button and the power button is on the other side and the back side is white/black instead of chrome and it is bulkier. Overall iphone is almost the same in program except that right now apple is trying to get rid of the sameness in ipod touch 2G and iphone. Also yes you can jailbreak the ipod touch 2G now since people have created the new jailbreak. They say the new jailbreak for 2G has some technical problems.
iPhone has 3g network and wifi so you can stay connected pretty much anywhere…you can call, text, take pictures.
ipod touch can pretty much do thes same thing besides phone calling and texting. and you have to have wifi.
I say the better one to get is the iPhone…and there are ways to jailbreak the ipod touch 2 generation just look it up on youtube…there are tons of vids and instructions to show you how
